Phosphorus deficiency made worse by

Acidic or very alkaline (calcareaus) soils
Low organic matter
Cold or wet conditions
Crops with a poorly developed root system
Soils with low P reserves
Soils with a high phosphate capacity
Iron rich soils

Phosphorus is important for

Yara recommended fertilizers for Phosphorus

YaraMila® 15-15-15

Apple: For orchard establishment, apply .5-1.5 lb YaraMila® 15-15-15/tree. For established low density orchards, apply 5 lbs/tree/year YaraMila® 15-15-15 in split applications at post harvest, and in the spring at flowering, according to variety, soil and tissue samples. Utilizing YaraMila® 15-15-15 provides a balanced nitrogen approach by supplying both nitrate and ammoniacal nitrogen along with fully available Phosphate, soluble Potassium and Sulfur in a homogenous prill. Consult with your agronomist for local recommendations.

YaraMila® 21-7-14

Apple: For orchard establishment, apply .5-1.5 lb YaraMila® 21-7-14/tree. For established low density orchards, apply 3-5 lbs YaraMila® 21-7-14/tree/year in split applications at post harvest, and in the spring at flowering, according to variety, soil and tissue samples. YaraVita® BUD BUILDER™WP

Apples: In the Spring apply 5 to 10 lbs/acre applied at bud burst. Reapply after fruit set during sizing in 10 to 14 day intervals. 5-10 lbs/acre applied post-harvest before leaf senescence. Water rate: minimum 25 gallons/acre. Foliar application of Bud Builder may leave a white residue-deposit on the leaf or crop when applied close to harvest.

YaraVita® MAGPHOS™

Apples: 4 to 6 applications of 1-2 quarts/acre from end of flowering. Repeat applications at 10 to 14 day intervals through color break. Water rate: 50 to 100 gallons/acre.

NUTRA-PHOS CALZINC

Apple: 5 to 25 lb per acre per application. Repeat as needed. Apply aerial applications in at least 5 gallons/acre and ground applications in at least 10 gallons/acre; however, when total application gallonage is 25 gallons per acre or less, DO NOT mix more than 1 lb. of this product per gallon of water.
