Role of Iron in Potato Production

Iron is essential for chlorophyll formation and enzyme activation in plants.

Iron deficiency in potato

Symptoms of iron deficiency first appear in the youngest leaves as iron does not readily translocate to new tissue. The interveinal areas are chlorotic but the veins remain green. In cases of severe deficiency, the entire leaf is chlorotic.
