Yara Invests in the Future of Agriculture with New Incubator Farms

Yara North America recently established two Yara Incubator Farms in Modesto, CA and Auburn, AL as centers for research, solution trials and knowledge sharing. Through collaborative efforts with customers, partners, and various technology providers, Yara plans to utilize the farms to study and advance insights into all aspects of the cropping system.

“At Yara, we truly feel that “Knowledge grows”, and these farms will enable us to continue to expand our understanding of the interplay of nutrition, water, environment, soil, technology, equipment, and more.” said Toby Goodroad, market development director at Yara North America. “With the insights gained, our team and our partners will be better equipped to support growers’ efforts in producing their best crop, increasing profitability, and farming in an environmentally sustainable way.”

By utilizing large, multi-acre plots, Yara and its partners will be able to gather many layers of data and intimate knowledge of every aspect of the cropping system over the coming years. The field scale research will provide valuable insight into the conditions and challenges that growers and advisors face. The Auburn farm, established in partnership with Auburn University, will focus on row crops, and is currently growing corn, cotton, and soybeans on 80 acres, 60 of which are irrigated. The Modesto farm has 40 acres of fertigated and established Almonds, and 40 acres of irrigated and established walnuts.

In addition to research, the farms will also act as places for partnerships with industry organizations to develop long-term relevant solutions for growers through collaboration. The farms are available to Yara’s retail partners to give their customers the opportunity to see first hand the benefits of a complete crop nutrition solution.
