Promote Vigorous Citrus Flush this Spring

February 2020

Spring is a great time to apply both manganese and zinc to citrus. During this time, trees begin the flush vigorously, therefore, demanding nutrients in large amounts.

Manganese (Mn) is an essential plant mineral that plays an important role in photosynthesis, protein metabolism and enzyme activation. Manganese also helps plants make use of nitrogen more efficiently. Deficiencies as seen in leaf mottling and chlorosis in manganese result in decreased yield and growth.

A key role of zinc (Zn) is to aid in the synthesis of plant-growth regulators and enzymes. Zinc is critical during the early growth stages as it is essential for numerous metabolic reactions. Deficiencies in zinc as seen in small leaves and chlorosis significantly reduce shoot growth and yield potential.

A combined foliar application of zinc and manganese is often more effective in correcting deficiency symptoms than single element sprays on their own.

YaraVita CITREL is a highly concentrated flowable formulation containing high amounts of manganese. YaraVita CITREL has significantly higher micronutrient concentrations than most liquid solutions or liquid chelates.

YaraVita CITREL combines critical nutrients specifically designed for spring flush, making it ideal for application to citrus crops to improve leaf quality and crop productivity.
