The urea based reagent
The urea based reagent, marketed under the name NoxCare 40 to bunker stations along the main rivers and lake shores. This is a 40% urea solution, distinct from Diesel Exhaust Fluid as inland shipping doesn’t require the same purity of product as trucks and cars do. However, it is important to choose the right quality of urea reagent for the good performance of the SCR system.
Ahead of the NOx control legislation for inland shipping, some barges, tugs and river tankers are already being equipped with SCR technology and use urea solution based reagent in their daily operations.
