Based on soil test results and onion variety nutritional requirements, apply a preplant fertilizer followed by 100-150 pounds per acre of 10-34-0 after seeding to help establish the new planting. Sidedress with 200 pounds of calcium nitrate per acre when plants are three to four inches tall followed by a second duplicate sidedress three to five weeks later.
